Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract you can also use vanilla powder
  • sugar, maple syrup, honey or sweetener of choice optional

Instructions

  • Slice banana and place in your blender.
  • Pour the rest of the ingredients and mix until smooth.
  • Taste to check if you need to sweeten it more.
  • Pour and serve immediately.

Notes

  • If your blender is not strong enough to break the ice then place ice cubes in a cup rather than mixing it with the rest of the ingredients.
  • You can use frozen banana slices as well. If you do use frozen bananas, you may not need to use ice cubes.
  • I do not sweetened the mixture as I usually find it good as is but this a a matter of personal taste.
  • If you have bananas that are over ripen on your counter or they're getting too brown to be enjoyed. Freezing the bananas until you are ready to make banana milk is an easy thing to do. Just peel the bananas, wrap each banana in wax paper and then place the wrapped bananas in a resealable bag and place in the freezer.
Variations:
  • You can add a dash of cinnamon instead of vanilla.
  • Use any milk or nut milk you prefer.
  • If you want it creamier then increase milk to water ration or use all milk and omit the water.
  • Add a couple of fresh strawberries or a touch of peanut butter.
Storage:
  • It is best to drink the banana milk immediately but if you must, it stays well refrigerated for 2 days but be aware that the mixture will separate and discolor. Just shake well before serving.
