Ingredients

  • 1 cup Heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Tablespoons Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Pour heavy cream, vanilla and sugar into a medium bowl.
  • Using an electric mixer, whip the ingredients together on medium speed until a soft peak forms. About 3 minutes.

Notes

  • Make sure that your whipping cream is at least 35% fat content.
  • Some say using granulated sugar is better. When I tried this I could feel the granules of the sugar in my cream but it is definitely not that bad especially if you are working with just the amount of sugar above.
  • If your kitchen is super hot, it is advised that you place your mixing bowl and whisks in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes before you start making the Chantilly cream.
  • Do not whip for too long as you will end up with butter.

To Store:
  • Homemade Chantilly cream keeps well in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 24 hours.
  • If your has been in the fridge for more than that, check for mold, loss of volume, smell, or if it is separated. If you notice any of that, then discard it.
  • For longer storage, scoop or pipe the cream on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and flash freeze until solid. Once frozen place them in a freezer safe container. Lasts for a couple of months but might lose a bit of consistency.

Variations:
When trying a new flavor variation to the original recipe, it is advised to add the smallest amount, mix and taste it before adding more of the flavoring in.
  • Make Chocolate Chantilly cream by adding 1-2 Tablespoons. of cocoa powder or chocolate syrup.
  • Make strawberry Chantilly cream by adding strawberry syrup or a teaspoon of strawberry jam.
  • Use 1-2 drops of rose or orange water in place of vanilla extract. Also try switching out the vanilla extract for another flavor such as almond, maple or orange.
  • Make chocolate hazelnut Chantilly cream by adding 1-2 teaspoons of Nutella.
