Mint matcha smoothie

Mint matcha smoothie with ginger syrup is a delicious refreshing drink. Easy to make for a quick breakfast or a delicious sweet snack.

Ingredients

For the Ginger syrup

  • ½ cup granulated sugar.
  • pound ginger root thinly sliced (about ½ cup).
  • ¾ cup water.

For the smoothie

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 scoops of frozen yogurt. (½ cup)
  • 1 Tablespoon matcha powder
  • 2 Tablespoon ginger syrup
  • ¼ cup fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  • Start by making the syrup, in a pot over medium high heat combine water, ginger and sugar and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 20 minutes until a bit thicker.
  • Strain the syrup and let it cool down.

To make the smoothie

  • In your blender add all the smoothie ingredients.
  • Blend until smooth then pour into glasses.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • This recipe is very adaptable to your liking, add more or less matcha according to your preference. Also add ginger syrup according to your level.
  • Use any sort of milk you like.
  • Garnish the top with some whipped cream, toasted coconuts, shaved chocolate... etc.
  • Variations:
    • Add some fresh or frozen fruits like blueberries, strawberries, pineapples...
    • Try mixing in some chocolate syrup for chocolate matcha smoothie.
    • Add a scoop of protein powder for protein matcha smoothie.
    • Ginger syrup works great with other types of sugars like raw and brown sugar.
    • Use other flavors in the ginger syrup, try adding vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, lemon or orange peel.
    • If you do not like ginger you can use mint syrup, maple syrup or agave syrup too.
