Chicken Sloppy Joe

Your favorite sloppy Joe dinner just got a leaner upgrade by using ground chicken. Flavorful chicken simmering in a delicious tomato sauce and served over toasted bread.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ medium onion finely diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ Tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 can (15oz) tomato sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For serving:

  • 4 burger buns toasted

Instructions

  • In a large skillet heat oil over medium high heat then add onion and bell pepper and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add ground chicken and cook until no longer look raw.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, tomato sauce, salt and pepper.
  • Bring mixture to a boil then reduce heat to medium and simmer for 10 minutes or until sauce thickens.
  • Taste to check seasoning.
  • Serve over toasted buns
