Equipment

  • 1 non-stick skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons tomato paste

Instructions

  • In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add oil and sauté onions until translucent.
  • Add ground beef and brown, breaking it apart until no longer pink.
  • Add spices, tomato paste and mix everything until very well combined.
  • Continue to cook for 2-3 minutes then turn heat off.

Notes

  • This is a basic seasoned ground beef recipe that has plenty of room to add other spices. Think chili for tacos, 7-spice blend for your Middle Eastern recipes, Chinese Five-spice for Asian recipes...etc.
  • Works great with some Italian seasoning for pasta sauce too.
Storage
  • Keeps well for 3 days in the fridge or 3 months in the freezer.
