Za’atar Recipe

A delicious nutty and tangy authentic zaatar spice mix is the key ingredient to many Middle Eastern recipes. Flavorful and works great with olive oil fro dipping, marinade, or a finishing touch to many dishes.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup wild oregano leaves
  • 2 Tablespoon sumac
  • 1 Tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • Sea salt to your liking 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  • Use a mortar and pestle to grind the oregano leaves finely then place in a bowl.
  • Add the rest of the spices and mix well.
  • Place in a jar with a fitted lid.

Notes

  • Storage:
    This zaatar mix is good for 3 months if stored properly in an airtight container in a dark cool place.
  • Zaatar mix can last up to six months if store in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Freeze for up to one year
