- 2 cups milk of choice (whole, oat, almond, coconut, or cashew milk)
- 1 Tablespoon instant coffee (or to taste, see notes for alternatives)
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar (light or dark)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 piece of ginger root (about 1½ inches, sliced and lightly smashed)
In a small pot, combine the milk, instant coffee, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon stick, whole cloves, and fresh ginger slices.
Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the coffee and sugar, until the mixture gently bubbles (simmers). Reduce heat and let it steep for 2-3 minutes to infuse the spices.
Pour the latte through a fine mesh strainer into serving mugs to catch the whole spices and ginger. Garnish with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon, and serve warm.
- Coffee Options: Feel free to use instant coffee, 2 shots of fresh espresso, or brewed Turkish coffee.
- Sweetener: Brown sugar gives a distinct caramel note, but you can swap it for maple syrup, honey, or your favorite sweetener.
- Milk Choices: Any milk works well in this recipe—experiment to find your favorite option!
