Healthy Baked Apple Slices

- 5-6 Large apples cored and sliced
- 4 Tablespoons butter melted
- ⅓ - ½ cup honey
- ½ cup mixed nuts
- 1 Tablespoons ground cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
In an oven safe baking dish combine melted butter, honey, cinnamon and nuts.
Mix everything well to distribute honey evenly.
Add sliced apples to the pan and mix everything well to coat apple slices.
Bake in the center of your oven for 20-25 minutes until fork tender.
Serve hot.
- For apples you can use Granny Smith, Gala, Fuji, Honey Crisp or a combination.
- I like using a mix of apples so it will not be too tart or too sweet.
- You can peel the apples if you would like to.
- Butter gives this recipe a tasty flavor more like apple pie. But you can also use olive oil, vegan butter or coconut oil for a vegan dish.
- For a thicker sauce add a tablespoon of cornstarch or flour.
Storage:
- Leftovers can be kept refrigerated in an airtight container for up to to 3 days. Reheat in oven.
Serve with:
- As is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, greek yogurt, pudding or mix with your morning oatmeal.
