Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large skillet over medium heat add oil and 2 tablespoons butter.
Add onions and sauté until translucent. Add garlic and continue to cook for 30 seconds.
Add sliced mushrooms, spices and mix well continuing to cook for 3 more minutes. Turn heat off.
Melt the remaining butter and pour into the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish.
Add rice and mix so the rice is covered with the melted butter.
Pour in broth and water then pour the mushroom mix on top.
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
Uncover and continue to bake for another 10 minutes until the edges tart to brown and get a little crispy.
Remove from heat, let it stand for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve garnished with fresh parsley or green onion.
