In a big bowl or your mixer’s bowl, combine dry ingredients well.
Add cheese and mix.
Gradually add water while kneading until you get a nice consistent dough that does not stick.
Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover and let it rise for an hour.
Roll the dough on a clean surface to about 3-4 mm thickness.
Cut with cookie cutter to shape of choice.
Heat 1 inch of oil in a pan and fry the fritters until golden brown, they will puff up as they fry and will be hollow.
Drizzle hot fritters with cooled simple syrup, honey or dust with powdered sugar.
Garnish with crushed nuts and serve with fresh fruits is desired.
