Tortellini Ground Beef

Ingredients

  • 12 oz cheese tortellini
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded

For the meat sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 can tomato paste 6 ounces
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon dry oregano
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • 1 can tomato sauce 15 ounces
  • 1 ¼ cup water

Instructions

  • Place a large skillet on medium high heat and pour oil.
  • Add onions and saute for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
  • Add ground beef and cook breaking it apart until no longer pink. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Mix in tomato paste, sugar, Worcestershire Sauce, oregano, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  • Pour in tomato sauce and water and stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Add tortellini, reduce heat to medium and cover. Cook for 7 minutes.
  • Uncover and sprinkle cheese on top, cover again and continue to cook until cheese melts and bubbly.
