Cheese stuffed Breadsticks

Cheese Stuffed Breadsticks are the ultimate party appetizer that pleases kids as well as adults. Fluffy bread enclosing melted gooey cheese and brushed with garlic butter, no wonder why everyone likes them!

Ingredients

  • 6 string cheese sticks
  • 1 pizza dough store-bought refrigerated dough
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • A dash of salt
  • 2 Tablespoons parmesan cheese freshly grated

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425F, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Unroll the pizza dough on a clean surface, spread it to ¼ inch thickness put it so the longer side is facing you. Cut in vertically.
  • Place one cheese stick at the top edge of the dough and roll stretching the dough to wrap around the cheese.
  • Cut and pinch the edges to seal the cheese inside.
  • Place the breadstick seam side down on the baking sheet.
  • Repeat with the remaining cheese.
  • In a small bowl place melted butter, garlic powder and mix well.
  • Brush each breadstick with butter and score the top 3-4 times.
  • Sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of grated parmesan cheese on top.
  • Bake in the middle of your oven for 5 minutes.
  • Move the baking sheet to the top rack and continue to bake for 3-5 minutes, or until the top is slightly browned.
  • Remove from oven and serve with your favorite sauce.

Notes

  • Take care as the cheese will be super hot and melty so you might want to give it a couple of minutes to cool down a bit before serving.
  • Make sure to seal the cheese stick completely with the dough and score the top of the breadstick. This helps preventing the cheese from oozing out.
  • After moving the baking dish to the top rack, give it a couple of minutes then take a look through the oven window. If you notice the cheese starting to ooze out turn on the broiler to get the top done quickly and then remove it from the oven.
