❤️ Favorite things about this recipe

  • This is a great way to use peaches while they are at the peak of flavor during peach season.
  • The homemade peach simple syrup adds a lot of peach flavor to your cup of sweet iced tea.
  • You only need a few simple ingredients so you don't have to worry about spending a lot of money at the grocery store.

This iced peach tea is a great Southern twist on classic sweet tea. The fruity taste pairs well with the black tea bags to make a refreshing drink that's perfect for a hot summer day.

📝 Ingredients you'll need

Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. You'll find the full measurements and instructions in the recipe card (printable) at the bottom of the page.

📋 Ingredients and/or variations

  • Water
  • Tea - You can use tea bags or loose leaf tea. You can also use green tea.
  • Ripe peaches - You can use fresh peaches or frozen. However, I think fresh peaches work best.
  • Sugar - Granulated sugar or pure cane sugar works well in this tea recipe. It is used to make the fresh peach syrup.

🥄 Instructions

Note: This is an overview of the instructions. The detailed instructions are in the recipe card below.

A collage of three images showing instructions to make the iced tea recipe.
  1. Add diced peaches, water, and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a simmer until peaches get soft. Or for about 10 minutes. Then strain.
  2. Boil four cups of water in a saucepan, then turn off the heat, add the tea, and steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the peach syrup then chill in the fridge until cold.

💡Amira's Tips

  • I used bags of black tea, however you can use your favorite type of tea for this peach iced tea recipe.
  • Fresh mint leaves and peach slices make great garnishes for your glasses or mason jars.
  • If you are using loose-leaf tea make sure to use a strainer to remove the leaves from your tea so that it's not gritty.
  • A potato masher does a great job at helping you break up the peaches.

🧺 Storage

Store your iced tea in a pitcher or glass jar in the fridge for up to three days.

⌛ Make Ahead

One great thing about this peach tea recipe is that it will develop more flavor as it chills in the fridge. However, if you plan to make it ahead of time, keep in mind that the longer it sits the sweeter it will get.

🍽️ Serve With

  • This homemade iced tea is great when served with your favorite summer recipes. I like to serve it with these Grilled Chicken Tenders and this Zesty Italian Pasta Salad. It's the ultimate summer meal for your family.
  • Treat yourself to this sweet tea after a delicious bright meal like this Ricotta Cheese Pasta.

💬 FAQs

Can I freeze tea?

You can freeze iced tea. However, keep in mind that it will get much sweeter when it's frozen.

Should you boil black tea bags?

No, I don't recommend boiling the tea bags as that can make the tea bitter. Once the water reaches a full boil, turn off the heat and then add the tea bags.

Ingredients

For the tea:

  • 6 cups water
  • 6 bags of tea or 6 teaspoons loose tea

Peach syrup:

  • 1 ½ cups diced peaches
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup sugar

Optional:

  • ¼-1/2 granulated sugar

Instructions

Make the syrup:

  • Add peaches, water, and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a simmer until peaches get soft.
  • Break the peaches with a fork then continue to cook for about 10 minutes.
  • Strain the mixture and set aside.

Brew the tea:

  • Boil 4 cups of water in a saucepan, turn heat off and add tea bags.
  • Let it steep for 5 minutes.
  • Remove tea bags.
  • Add peach syrup and the remaining water.
  • Taste to adjust sweetness.
  • Chill in the fridge until cold.
  • Serve with ice, peach slices and mint if desired.

Notes

  • For my husband the tea needed no more sugar, for me the whole batch needed about ¼ cup extra sugar. So you will need to taste and adjust the sugar level to your liking.
