📝 Ingredients
Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. You'll find the full measurements and instructions in the recipe card (printable) at the bottom of the page.
📋 Ingredient Notes & Substitutions
- Lime juice - Fresh squeezed juice will give this mocktail the best flavor.
- Orange juice - I prefer to use fresh squeezed orange juice for a nice flavor.
- Agave nectar - This is a natural sweetener that is commonly used in cocktails and mocktails. Although highly recommended you can use simple syrup or maple syrup instead.
- Club soda - Helps to give this mocktail a bubbly and refreshing finish. You can also use tonic water.
🥄 Instructions
Note: This is an overview of the instructions. The detailed instructions are in the recipe card below.
- In a small flat plate mix lime zest with salt.
- Run a wedge of lime around the rim of your glass then dip it in the salt plate.
- Pour fresh lime juice, agave, and orange juice into the glass and stir to combine.
- Pour the soda on top. Then garnish the cup with an extra lime or orange slice before serving.
💡 Tips for Success
- Feel free to adjust the amount of agave nectar based on your personal preference.
- Fresh orange juice is way better than than the ones you buy at the grocery store.
- If you prefer your drink shaken you can add all the ingredients except the club soda to a cocktail shaker and give it a good shake. Then pour it into the glass and add the club soda.
- This recipe is for one cocktail but you can easily double or triple for a group if you need to.
🧺 Storage
This drink is best served right away. Due to the club soda in the drink, it does not store well. So, mix up just what you need.
⌛ Make Ahead
I don't recommend making this drink ahead, however, if you are in a hurry and you have guests coming over, you can mix up the fruit juices in a large pitcher. Just wait to add the club soda until you are ready to serve so it doesn't go flat.
🍽️ Serve With
The options to pair with this mocktail are unlimited however my favorite recipes to serve with it are these Baja Shrimp Tacos or this Taco Tater Tot Casserole. Margaritas just scream Mexican food to me.
👩🍳 Variations
- For a fun twist, try adding a splash of cranberry juice for a touch of tartness.
- Mix in any fresh juices for different virgin cocktails. Fresh fruit juices work best like strawberry juice for a virgin strawberry margarita.
- Not a fan of a salted rim? You can use sugar instead for a sweet touch.
- For a spicy kick, muddle some jalapeno slices in the bottom of your glass before adding the other ingredients.
