📝 Ingredients
Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. You'll find the full measurements and instructions in the recipe card (printable) at the bottom of the page.
📋 Ingredient Notes
- Pineapple juice— Pineapple juice gives this mocktail its sweet pineapple flavor.
- Cream of coconut— Adds a slight coconut flavor along with a rich, creamy texture. You can find it on the international aisle at your grocery store.
- Ice - ice cubes is what gives this mocktail it's frozen texture. I've found that cubes work better than nuggets when making frozen drinks.
- For garnish you will need maraschino cherries.
🥄 Instructions
Note: This is an overview of the instructions. The detailed instructions are in the recipe card below.
- Pour all ingredients into a high-powdered blender.
- Blend for 1 minute or until smooth.
- Serve garnished with cherries, fresh pineapple wedge and a cocktail umbrella.
💡Amira's Tips
- For the best flavor and texture, I recommend that you use coconut cream and not canned coconut milk. Regular coconut milk doesn't have the same sweetness, and it's thinner, so it will affect your final results.
- Garnish this tropical drink with a pineapple slice on the rim of the glass, some whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry or two on top.
- I recommend that you use a high-powdered blender for mocktails that need ice. A Vitamix blender or a Ninja will give you the smoothest drink.
- If you are using a regular blender, you may need to blend the pineapple and coconut mixture for 2 - 4 minutes to get it completely smooth.
- This is a sweet drink, if you find it too sweet for your liking you might wanna add a pinch of salt.

🧺 Storage
I don't recommend storing this tropical drink it's best enjoyed freshly made. However, you can store the pineapple juice and coconut mixture in the fridge for up to three days.
⌛ Make Ahead
It's best to make this tropical treat and serve it the right way, because as the ice melts it can water down your drink. To save a little time, you can mix the pineapple juice and coconut cream together ahead of time, so you can just blend it with the ice when you are ready to serve.
🍽️ Serve With
Serve this delicious virgin cocktail at your summer parties and cookouts. Some of my favorite entrees to serve with this pineapple and coconut drink are Grilled Chicken Tenders or Grilled Shrimp Kabobs. No matter what you pair with this drink your guests will love it.
👩🍳 Variations
- You can use frozen pineapple chunks instead of ice. This will give your non-alcoholic pina colada a creamier texture and add a lot of sweetness. It may be a little too sweet for adults but the kids will love it.
- For a slightly different flavor, you can leave out the ice and use a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream to make this more like a milkshake than a frozen cocktail.
- To make a pina colada smoothie leave out the ice and use plain Greek yogurt or vanilla yogurt instead.
💬 FAQs
A coco colada is made with coconut water instead of coconut cream so it's thinner, and less creamy than the frozen pina colada.
No, these two are not the same. Cream of coconut is very sweet and usually used in cocktails and desserts. Coconut cream is thicker, unsweetened with a higher fat content.

Virgin Pina Colada
Ingredients
- 6 ounces pineapple juice
- 3 ounces cream of coconut
- 1-2 crushed ice
Instructions
- Pour all ingredients on a high powdered blender.
- Blend for 1 minutes until all combined
- Serve garnished with cherries and a wedges of pineapple.
Notes
- You can use frozen pineapple instead of ice, it makes the drink more creamy but in my opinion added a lot of sugar and the drink became too sweet for my liking. Worth noting that kids liked it more with frozen pineapple.
