❤️ Favorite things about this recipe

  • You only need a handful of simple ingredients to help you make this creamy yogurt dressing, so you don't have to spend a lot of money at the grocery store.
  • This homemade dressing also tastes so much better than store-bought salad dressings if you ask me.
  • This dressing also tastes great on all of your favorite salads, so you will have lots of opportunities to use it.

I used to think that making homemade dressing was complicated and time-consuming, but this recipe proved me wrong. It's so easy and quick to whip up

📝 Ingredients you'll need

Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. You'll find the full measurements and instructions in the recipe card (printable) at the bottom of the page.

Ingredients for the Greek salad dressing with yogurt.

📋 Ingredient Notes / Variations

  • Lemon juice- I like to use fresh lemon juice in recipes like this as it will give the best flavor to your dressing. However, you can also use the bottled kind if that's all you have on hand.
  • Fresh garlic clove - If you don't have fresh garlic on hand, you can use the jarred kind or even garlic powder instead.
  • Plain Greek yogurt - This tangy yogurt is the base of this delicious dressing, make sure to use a high-quality yogurt.  I like to use Fage. However, regular yogurt will work as well.
  • Mayonnaise - If you don't have mayo on hand, sour cream will also work in place of mayo in this creamy Greek yogurt salad dressing.
  • Olive oil - I like to use high-quality extra virgin olive oil when I am making a healthy salad dressing like this one. However, any neutral oil will work.
  • Salt -  A pinch of salt helps to balance out the tanginess of the lemon and yogurt in this dressing.
  • Pepper - Freshly cracked black pepper adds a nice bit of heat to this tasty salad dressing.
  • Dill - You can use dried or fresh dill to give this dressing a great flavor.
  • Pure maple syrup - This will add a touch of sweetness to this tangy dressing, you can also use honey or agave nectar in this recipe.

🥄 Step by step: instructions

Note: This is an overview of the instructions. The detailed instructions are in the recipe card below.

A collage of four images showing instructions to make the dressing recipe.
  1. In a medium bowl adds yogurt, mayonnaise, garlic, and lemon juice.
  2. Blend, using an immersion blender or a whisk.
  3. Pour olive oil slowly while blending to emulsify the dressing.
  4. Mix in salt, pepper, dill, and maple syrup to your liking.
  5. Taste to adjust seasoning.

👩‍🍳 Variations to make it your own

  • If you want to add a little more flavor to your dressing, add a teaspoon of Dijon mustard.
  • You can also change up the flavors of your dressing by adding your favorite fresh herbs.
  • If you don't have lemon juice, you can use apple cider vinegar, red wine vinegar, or even white wine vinegar as the acid for your homemade salad dressings instead.
  • Are you a fan of the onion flavor? If so add some onion powder or grated red onion to the creamy dressing.

👍 Let's make the perfect recipe: Amira's tips

  • If you don't want to mix the salad dressing by hand you can also use a food processor to blend the creamy dressing.
  • If you are making this as a dipping sauce for raw veggies or chicken use a little less oil to keep the dressing thick.
  • For a thinner dressing add a splash of water or skim milk to the dressing to thin it out.

🧺 How to store leftovers

Refrigerate - Always store leftover dressing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.

Freeze - I don't recommend that you freeze this yogurt salad dressing because of the dairy in the dressing. It may separate when thawed.

⌛ Time saving tips: make ahead

One great thing about making your own salad dressing is that the flavors get better over time. So, feel free to make this a couple of hours ahead of time and store it in the fridge. Just give it a good stir or shake before serving.

🍽️ Perfect pairings: what to serve with
