If there’s one dessert everyone loves, it’s Rice Krispies treats. They’re chewy, gooey, and surprisingly easy to make. But have you ever made Rice Krispie Treats with Marshmallow Creme? It's a simplified yet irresistibly delicious way to make them, and your family will love them.

Jump to:
When I saw the idea of using marshmallow cream instead of marshmallows, I just knew I had to try it. Regular marshmallows have an anticaking agent on the outside, whereas the fluff doesn't. So, it makes your treats even more gooey. They are amazingly soft.
Pro Tip
When making these treats, I've found that the most critical step is to remove the fluff from the jar before you start cooking. Otherwise, the butter will brown too quickly, because it takes a while to get the fluff out.
Rice Krispie Treats with Marshmallow Cream
Ingredients
- 6 Tablespoons butter
- 1 (13oz) tub marshmallow cream/ fluff
- 8 cups Rice Krispies cereal about 230g
Optional:
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Butter a 13x9 baking dish and set aside.
- In a big pot or a dutch oven over medium heat add cereal and keep stirring until it is toasted and gets a golden color.
- Dump the cereal in a plate and in the same pot add butter and wait for it to melt.
- Decrease the heat to low and add marshmallow fluff and salt.
- Stir to combine then turn heat off and return the cereal to the pot.
- Mix everything together well.
- Pour mixture to the baking dish and spread with a spatula or a piece of parchment paper.
- Let it cool for 30 minutes to 1 hour then cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Please take out the content of the marshmallow jar in a bowl before you start making the recipe as it take a while and your butter might burn while you take it all out.
- Toasting the cereal is optional but I highly recommend it as it takes your Rice Krispies to a whole new level.
- You can turn the heat off when the butter melts and add the marshmallow fluff as the heat from the pot will melt the fluff more. Lowering the heat though gives butter a little extra time to deepen in color and get nuttier.
- Variations: use any sort of cereal, our favorite is cinnamon toast crunch
Use cocoa Krispies and mix in ½ cup of peanut butter, you’ll be amazed.
Use coconut oil, pineapple extract and maybe grate a bit of lemon zest for a Pina colada version.
