❤️ Why You'll Love It

  • A quick snack.
  • So easy to make.
  • Restaurant quality right at home.

When we go to restaurants to grab a sandwich, I usually pay the extra money for the sweet potato french fry upgrade, because they are a healthier alternative to regular french fries. I haven't been able to copy that same crispiness until recently when I got my air fryer.

Air fried sweet potato fries make for a restaurant quality side dish and we don't have to leave the house or pay expensive up charges anymore. And I get to have as many as I want!

  • Obviously you will need an air fryer for this recipe, this Cuisinart air fryer is what I use. Any other air fryer will work you just need to check your manual for settings.

🥄 Instructions

Note: This is an overview of the instructions. The full instructions are in the recipe card below.

Air fryer sweet potato fries are the easy way for the perfect side dish
  1. If you are using an air fryer with an aluminum basket, brush the basket with a little olive oil first so the fries won't stick. This step is not required if you have a non-stick basket .
  2. Place the frozen sweet potatoes in a single layer.
  3. Place the basket in your air fryer and set your air fryer to 400 degrees.
  4. Air fry for 6 minutes. Using tongs turn the sweet potato fries over and then air fry again for 5-7 minutes until crispy to your liking.

🧺 Storage

It is better to consume cooked sweet potato fries immediately, they will get softer as time goes by. But if you don't eat them all, you can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

💡 Tips

  • Do not thaw the frozen sweet potatoes before placing them in the air fryer.
  • Frozen sweet potatoes come pre-seasoned so there is no need to season them more.
  • If you are using an air fryer wit a non-stick basket, do not spray or brush with oil.
  • If you are using a basket style air fryer, then air fry for 12-15 minutes shaking the basket every 5 minutes.
  • New to your air fryer? Until you get familiar with your air fryer, I recommend you start checking the fries 2 minutes before the cooking time ends to make sure they will not get burnt.

💬 Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my sweet potato fries come out soggy?

If you put too many fries in the basket, it can result in uneven cooking. Only cook half the bag at a time and lay them in the basket so they allow the hot air of the air fryer convection to heat every part of the sweet potato fry and get the perfect crispiness.

What kind of seasoning should I put on my sweet potato fries?

Frozen sweet potato fries should already be seasoned, we love the Alexia sweet potato fries, however if you wish to add a little more flavor you can use seasonings such as sea salt, chipotle seasoning or paprika. Any additional seasoning should be added before you cook the sweet potatoes in air fryer.

Can I refreeze thawed sweet potato fries?

Sweet potato fries should be okay to refreeze if they are not fully thawed and still have ice crystals on them. When making this recipe, it's advised to use half the bag and then seal them in a bag and put them back into the freezer until it's time to cook the other half.
