🥄 Instructions
Note: This is an overview of the instructions. The detailed instructions are in the recipe card below.
- First, fold tortillas in half and then into quarters, the tortillas will tear on their own. Using a sharp knife, cut into two triangles so each tortilla will yield eight pieces.
- Spray a lined baking sheet with oil spray, arrange triangles then spray the tops and bake in a 350 degrees F oven.
- Mix spice ingredients in a small bowl and taste to adjust seasoning to your liking.
- Immediately after the tortillas are out sprinkle each side with the seasoning mix on both sides while they are still hot.
💡 Tips
- I do not recommend using flour tortillas in this recipe, they are too thick and will make a denser chip plus they do not give the desired taste.
- I’ve used nacho cheese and white cheddar popcorn seasoning in this recipe which made for a perfect mix. If this is not available, you can use finely grated parmesan cheese.
- You can also use cheddar cheese powder, they are available online.
- I did not add more salt to the spice mix as it is already salted but you can taste the mix before sprinkling it over the tortillas and adjust accordingly.
- Nutritional yeast is not a must but it adds a savory cheesy flavor so if you have it go ahead and use some.
👩🍳 Variations
- Play with the seasoning mix as much as you like, try adding different spices, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder or come up with your own. Here is a new idea make them spiced up with Hawaij for an exotic new spice blend.
- You can also use the package of cheese mixture that comes with store-bought macaroni and cheese box.
- Other cooking methods are listed in the recipe card below.

I will try this, thank you. I like Doritos, but do not eat them as they have MSG. I do not do MSG on purpose.
