Enjoy the delicious taste of Lil Smoies wrapped in golden, flaky crescent rolls that are puffed up to perfection. These little rolls are sure to be a hit with both kids and adults.

Simply using refrigerated crescent rolls and lil smokies will create the most delicious lil smokies pigs in a blanket bite-sized appetizer recipe. Crescent rolls are flaky, buttery and baked golden brown while wrapped around a mini beefy smoked sausage.

Lil smokies pigs in a blanket are fun for kids to unroll and eat and adults enjoy to dunking them in their favorite dipping sauce. Queso chili sauce, ketchup, honey mustard, mayonnaise or your favorite bbq sauce are all great choices for these mini crescent dogs.

Lil smokies and crescent rolls are wrapped together to make one tasty appetizer. Both filling and delicious, these little bite sized treats are usually the first to go at any potluck, game day or tailgating party. They travel well too!

  1. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into triangles. Cut each triangle into three small triangles.
  2. Place one beef sausage at the wide end of each triangle and roll up the dough tucking in the ends to seal.

  1. Place rolls seam side down on the baking sheet. Continue with other rolls leaving enough space between each roll to allow for rising during baking. Bake as directed below.

💡 Tips

  • This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled.
  • You can use regular hot dogs and cut each into three or four depending on the size.
  • You'll most probably end up with a couple of extra sausages which you can easily just eat.

🧺 Storage

  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in your fridge for up to 3-4 days.
  • Freeze in single layer for up to 1 month.
  • Reheat loosely covered in the oven until thoroughly heated.

⌛ Make Ahead

Lil smokies pigs in a blanket can be made ahead of time by prepping and wrapping the smoked sausages and placing them on the parchment lined baking sheet. Wrap tightly and store in your refrigerator for 1-2 hours before cooking.

👩‍🍳 Variations

  • Try adding some cheese along with the sausage.
  • Brush with melted butter for an extra buttery flavor.
  • Brush with egg wash and sprinkle top with everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds or salt and pepper.
  • Sprinkle a little brown sugar for a touch of sweetness in with the lil sausage before wrapping.

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls 8oz
  • 1 packet Beef lil smokies 12oz, not frozen

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F, place oven racks in the middle and one in the upper third of your oven.
  • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into triangles.
  • Cut one triangle into three smaller triangles.
  • Place one beef sausage at the wide end of each triangle and roll up the dough tucking in the ends to seal.
  • Place roll seam side down on the baking sheet.
  • Continue with other rolls leaving enough space between each roll to allow for rising during baking.
  • Place on sheet on the middle of the oven and the other on the upper third rack.
  • Bake for about 6 minutes until the upper rolls are browned nicely at the top and the lower ones are browned at the bottom then switch sheets.
  • Continue baking until all rolls are golden brown both at the top and the bottom anywhere from 12-15 minutes.
  • Remove from cookie sheet and serve.
