❤️ Crockpot chicken pasta
- One great thing about this recipe is that all of the ingredients are easy to find at your local grocery store so you don't have to worry about making multiple trips to different stores.
- Another thing I love about slow cooker meals like this one is that they are dump-and-go meals so they are great for weeknights.
- Not only does this creamy pasta make a great dinner, but it also can be a fun meal to serve for game day!
This dish has all the flavor of crispy buffalo wings but instead of messy wings, the flavor is packed into a creamy sauce that makes a great meal to satisfy your cravings.
📝 Ingredients you'll need
Note: This is an overview of the ingredients. You'll find the full measurements and instructions in the recipe card (printable) at the bottom of the page.
📋 Ingredient Notes / Variations
- Chicken breasts - For this recipe, I use boneless skinless chicken breasts. You will need about a pound.
- Ranch dry mix - This is a ranch seasoning packet and not bottled ranch dressing.
- Milk - You can also use heavy cream or half and half if you don't have milk on hand.
- Cream cheese - I like to use full-fat cream cheese to get the best creamy texture for this cheesy buffalo chicken pasta.
- Buffalo chicken wings sauce - We like to use the mild sauce in our family, however, use your favorite buffalo wing sauce!
- Butter - I used salted butter. Unsalted butter would also work.
- Mozzarella cheese - I like to shred my own mozzarella so that I don't have to worry about the anticaking agent causing it to not melt well.
- Cooked pasta - Any type of pasta that you have on hand will work for this recipe, I like to use a round pasta like rotini or penne pasta.

🥄 Step by step: instructions
Note: This is an overview of the instructions. The detailed instructions are in the recipe card below.
- Place chicken in the bottom of the slow cooker, then add the ranch dry mix, milk, and buffalo sauce then mix well. Add cream cheese and scatter butter on top then cover and cook on high for 3 hours.
- Cook the pasta al dente and set aside.
- In the last 30 minutes of cooking, taste the sauce to adjust the heat level to your liking, add more hot sauce if you would like to.
- Mix the content of the slow cooker well and add pasta and shredded cheese. Serve garnished with chopped parsley or chopped green onion.
👩🍳 Adaptable recipe – make it your own
- Don't have chicken breasts? You can use boneless skinless chicken thighs instead. Chicken tenderloins would also work for this delicious recipe.
- Add a little extra flavor to your dish by adding some fresh blue cheese crumbles on top as a garnish.
- If your family is a fan of spicy foods, make sure to use hot or spicy buffalo sauce.
- Have family members that don't like spice? Add a dollop or two of sour cream to their pasta. It will help tame the spicy flavor in the sauce so they can enjoy it without the heat but still get the buffalo flavor.
👍 My notes
- For this recipe, I recommend that you use a brick of cream cheese that has been cut into cubes. I don't recommend using the whipped cream cheese in the tubs.
- Want to make clean-up easy for busy days? Use a slow cooker liner or spray your crockpot with nonstick cooking spray.
🧺 Storage and reheating
Refrigerate - Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
Freeze - You can also freeze the leftovers for later by placing them in a freezer-safe container or bag. They will last for up to 3 months.
Reheat - Reheat the pasta in the microwave at 50% power for 2-3 minutes or until warm. You can also reheat this dish the next day on the stovetop over medium heat. If you find that it's a little thick add a splash of chicken broth to the pasta to thin it back out.
⌛ Make Ahead
This recipe reheats very well. So, feel free to make it up to 24 hours in advance and store it in the fridge until you are ready to reheat and serve it.
🍽️ Perfect pairings: what to serve with
My family loves it when I serve this pasta recipe with a green salad like this Mediterranean Greek Salad. You can also pair it with other vegetable side dishes such as this Air Fryer Frozen Broccoli or this Brussel Sprouts Appetizer.
💬 Your questions answered: FAQs
Yes, technically you can, it takes about 30 minutes. However, it tends to get gummy, so I recommend that you cook the pasta separately for this recipe.
