This Strawberry Banana Smoothie skips the ice entirely, no diluted flavor here. Instead, Greek yogurt and a touch of vanilla do all the work, giving it that creamy, melted ice cream taste without the guilt.

Simple Strawberry Banana Smoothie

This is how my mom used to make us a strawberry banana drink. No protein powder, no complicated ingredients, just basic 4 ingredients plus two optional for flavor and sweetness.

My mom, though, did not add yogurt. Adding a dollop of Greek yogurt makes the smoothie incredibly creamy with a rich, luxurious texture.

Pro Tip

For the thickest, most milkshake like texture, use frozen strawberries or a frozen banana. Do not use them both frozen, as this might be hard on the average blender.

How to Make Strawberry Banana Smoothie

1- In your blender add milk, honey (if using), yogurt, vanilla (if using), banana and strawberries. Blend well until smooth and creamy.

Taste the smoothie right from the blender. If you want it sweeter, blend in a touch more honey. Pour into two glasses and serve immediately.

FAQs

How to store leftovers?

Smoothies are best enjoyed right away, but if you have leftovers, pour them into a mason jar and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. The smoothie may separate, just give it a quick shake before drinking. Another fun way to use leftover is to pour them into silicone popsicle molds and freeze them for a healthy, refreshing frozen treat later in the week.

Can I make it ahead of time?

Smoothies are always best enjoyed fresh, but you can absolutely prep this ahead of time to save precious morning minutes. Chop your banana and place them in a freezer safe bag or container. Chop strawberries and place them in the fridge. In the morning, all you have to do is dump the chopped fruit into the blender, add your milk, yogurt, honey, and vanilla, and blend! You can also blend this smoothie the night before and keep it in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours. The ingredients may separate slightly as it sits, so just give it a shake or a quick stir before drinking.

Any variations I can make?

For a vegan version, swap the cow's milk for almond, oat, or coconut milk, and use a plant based coconut or almond milk yogurt. Switch the honey for maple syrup or agave nectar. For a boost of protein, add a scoop of your favorite vanilla or unflavored protein powder, or toss in a tablespoon of hemp seeds. You can also toss in a handful of fresh baby spinach. It will turn the smoothie green, but we promise you won't taste it at all.
