Banana milk is so simple and delicious to make! This easy 3 minute banana milk recipe is a healthy light breakfast or an after school snack. Banana milk is exactly what you think it to be, ripe bananas and milk blended together with a touch of vanilla flavoring.

Next time try this delicious tamarind juice.

Although banana milk is sweet as it is, my kids love to add a touch of sweetness by adding a drizzle of maple syrup or honey. It's an amazingly good combination of flavors.

Banana milk is sometimes referred to as Korean banana milk as it's popular in South Korea and produced by Binggrae so here is my homemade version. However, you don't have to travel there to get a taste of this creamy deliciousness as you can easily make it at home!

❤️ Why You'll Love It

  • It tastes amazing as is with no artificial flavors!
  • Ready in 3 minutes.
  • It's a healthy treat to be enjoyed any time of day.
  • Great use of bananas.

Banana milk is a good way to use up leftover bananas. As well as get your kids (and yourself) the necessary calcium, potassium, vitamins and minerals easily in an 8oz glass. Banana milk is a healthful snack with loads of good things.

📝 Ingredients

3-ingredient banana milk drink

📋 Ingredient Notes

  • Banana: Ripe bananas
  • Milk: Use your favorite! I use whole milk but you can also use almond milk, cashew milk or even coconut milk for a dairy free option.
  • Water: Added so your banana milk is not too thick to drink.
  • Ice cubes: Perfect for chilling the drink or keeping it cold.
  • Vanilla powder/extract: Vanilla powder has a more intense flavor than vanilla extract but both are fine choices to add a touch of vanilla flavor.
  • Sweetener (optional): I find banana milk to have a natural sweetness already, but any sweetener like honey, maple syrup or other natural sweetener can be added.

🥄 Instructions

  1. Slice banana and place in your blender.
  2. Pour the rest of the ingredients and mix until smooth. Test to check if you need to sweeten it more. Pour and serve immediately.

💡 Tips

  • If your blender is not strong enough to break ice then place ice cubes in the cup rather than mixing it with the rest of ingredients.
  • You can use frozen banana slices as well. If you do use frozen bananas, you may not need to use ice cubes or may need to add more liquid.
  • I like this no added sugar version as I usually find it good as it is but this is a matter of personal taste.
  • If you have bananas that are over ripen on your counter or they're getting too brown to be enjoyed. Freezing the bananas until you are ready to make banana milk is an easy thing to do. Just peel the bananas, wrap each banana in wax paper and then place the wrapped bananas in a resealable bag and place in the freezer.

⌛ Make Ahead

Banana milk can be made ahead of time and put into your refrigerator until you're ready to drink. However, know that it may separate and you'll need to stir or shake before drinking.

👩‍🍳 Variations

  • You can add a dash of cinnamon instead of vanilla.
  • If you want to make it vegan use non-dairy milk like oat milk.
  • If you want it creamier then increase milk to water ratio or use all milk and omit the water.
  • Add a couple of fresh strawberries or a touch of peanut butter.

🧺 Storage

It is best to drink the banana milk immediately but if you must, it stays well refrigerated for 2 days but be aware that the mixture will separate and discolor. Just shake well before serving.

💬 FAQs

Is banana milk good for you?

Yes! Homemade banana milk is a mixture of bananas which have vitamins, potassium, magnesium, fiber, calcium. And milk, both cow's milk and non-dairy have a good amount of calcium and is usually fortified with other vitamins and minerals.

What color bananas are best to use?

Yellow bananas are ideal, but if you like bananas a little sweeter than go for an overripe banana. When a banana ripens, the starch breaks down and turns into natural sugar. If you want one with less sugar, then try a not yet ripen green banana. All bananas are delicious, choose the one you like best.

Does banana milk taste like bananas?

Well, bananas are mixed with milk and so it will have the taste of bananas but it is not overpowering. It's actually kind of light and creamy. I also like to add vanilla to it as it adds an additional pleasant flavor.
