  • Use your favorite seafood medley.
  • Perfect for a light lunch or a hearty dinner with a side of crusty bread.

This seafood soup is both creamy and rich and totally delicious. An easy soup recipe worthy of your favorite seafood. Add your favorites. We love to add shrimp, scallops, mussels, calamari, you can also try lobster and crab legs.

🥄 Instructions

Note: This is an overview of the instructions. The detailed instructions are in the recipe card below.

A collage of four images showing how to make seafood soup.
  1. We'll start by making the Mirepoix. In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced onions, carrots and celery, sauté for 3 minutes.
  2. Add seafood mix and bay leaves, keep stirring for about 2 minutes.
  3. Add cilantro, boiling water. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat , cover and continue cooking for 5 minutes or until seafood is almost done.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream, salt and pepper, taste to adjust seasoning. Simmer until mixture thickens a bit.

💡Tips

  • Do not use seafood medley that has imitation crab, these will not taste good in this soup.
  • You can use any type(s) of seafood you like but I recommend you include some shells. Mine had about 3 oz mussels.
  • If you have seafood stock you can use it instead of the boiling water.
  • If the soup did not thicken to your liking you can dissolve a tablespoon of starch or flour in a little bit of cold milk and add to the simmering pot.
  • If using frozen packaged seafood medley, thaw overnight or according to package directions in your fridge before using. Do not refreeze.

🧺 Storage

Creamy seafood soup can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Easily reheat on your stove top or microwave.

🍽️ Serve With

Serve seafood soup with air fryer garlic bread for a hearty lunch or dinner.

👩‍🍳 Variations

  • Add more vegetables such as potatoes, corn kernels are the most common.
  • Add a touch of hot sauce if you like a little heat.
