- In your food processor, process the onion, garlic, and the rest of the spices until finely chopped.
- Combine ground beef and process.
- The mixture is soft like a paste.
- Shape into a loaf, place on a baking sheet or a loaf pan, and bake until done. Take it out of the oven, cover loosely with aluminum foil and wait for it to cook down for about 10 minutes. Cut into thin slices.
- To assemble gyros, add slices into a lightly oiled skillet, or grill pan and brown the gyro slices for about 30 seconds on each side over medium heat.
- Place meat on warm pita bread or naan bread topped with traditional tzatziki sauce, sliced onions, tomatoes and lettuce or Greek salad.

- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1½ teaspoon salt or to taste
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 Tablespoons plain yogurt
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
To Serve
- Oil for pan frying
- Pita bread
- Tzatziki sauce
- Lettuce, tomato and onion
- Greek salad
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In your food processor, process onion, garlic and the rest of the spices until finely chopped.
- Add ground beef and process until the mixture is soft and like a paste.
- Shape into a loaf, place on a baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes or until done.
- Take it out of the oven, cover loosely with aluminum foil and wait for it to cook down for about 10 minutes.
To assemble gyros:
- In a lightly oiled hot skillet, brown the gyro slices on high heat for about 30 seconds on each side.
